Mowing Fast Food Restaurants – Quick Money

Mowing Fast Food Restaurants

Mowing Fast Food Restaurants

Make more money in your lawn care business with fast food restaurants.

Mowing the islands as fast food restaurants is an easy way to make more money with your lawn care business.

We have found that these lawn mowing contracts are very profitable to lawn care business owners. Islands at fast food restaurants are easy to mow and they normally do not require large equipment. Once you prove that you can perform the lawn care work professionally, restaurant owners who operate more than one restaurant location will be quick to contract you to do all their lawn care work.

There are a few caveats. The lawn care work must normally be done during non-business hours or when there are the fewest number of cars in the parking lot as possible. Care must be taken to prevent debris from striking cars and customers of the business location. The restaurant owners will negotiate your prices. So, be sure to have a definite pricing strategy when submitting your initial lawn care estimate. Lawn care business liability insurance will be required as will proper licensing of your lawn care business. Finally, your billing will likely be on a net 30 basis so it will take some time to get your money.

If you’re interested in making more money with your lawn care business. Our lawn care business strategy guidebook teaches you how to bid lawn mowing contracts such as fast food restaurants.

Overgrown Yards and Your Lawn Care Business

Make Money Mowing Overgrown Lawns

Hi Everyone: This is Keith with StartALawnCareBusiness.com. I can show you how to make up to 4 times as much money mowing overgrown lawns.

Though it’s only May and the summer hasn’t officially begun, there are already many lawns in your area that are overgrown and need to be cut immediately. There is great money in these types of lawn. In this quick blog post I want to give you three reasons why you can make lots of money with this type of lawn care job.

1) Homeowners with severely overgrown lawns are desperate to have their grass cut. Something has gone wrong with their mowing schedule and by identifying their needs, you can often convince them to get their lawns cut immediately. By being onsite with your equipment you should let them know that they don’t need to call around for estimates since you can do the work immediately. I will show you how negotiate the best price for this type of work.

2) In many areas of the country, local governments and homeowners associations will fine homeowners with overgrown lawns. When you speak with the homeowner, I’ll show you how to inform them of potential legal actions and the costs involved. To prevent dealing with the hassle, they will often let you mow their grass without calling other lawn care companies for estimates. This prevents lowballers from undercutting your price. But, you have to act with urgency. I’ll show you how to do this effectively.

3) Many lawn care companies will refuse to mow this type of lawn. However, I have found that I can often charge 4 to 6 times as much money for a cleanup job than a 1 time mowing job. The average time involved to do the work is only 1 1/2 times as long as a regular mowing job. I will show you how to work FAST AND EFFICIENTLY and reduce your work time so you can make more money per hour than you ever thought possible.

If you want to focus on these types of clean-up jobs, I can show you how to target the customers and get more money for your work.

My company has developed a professionally produced LAWN CARE BUSINESS Guidebook and Estimating Software Package that shows you how to make more money with your lawn care business.

A Rake! A Rake! My Kingdom for a Rake!

leaf raking business for money

Leaf raking means extra money for lawn care companies.

Leaf raking season is upon us. Make lots of money raking leaves for your lawn care customers. Summer lawn mowing season is slowly winding down and we find ourselves on the cusp of a huge leaf raking season.

Most of the country (especially the eastern half of the United States) had plentiful rainfall this summer. Plentiful rainfall means lots of green grass and high growth all summer. I hope all you guys made lots of money mowing lawns this summer.

Abundant rainfall also means abundant foliage on all the trees in your area. Every tree in every yard I drive by seems to be burdened with a ton of leaves. This year’s autumn leaf raking season promises to be one of the best in recent memory for leaf fall. Lots of leaves means your lawn care customers will be calling you for leaf removal and leaf management services.

Is your lawn care business ready for autumn leaf raking services?

I have said in other blog posts that you can make a tremendous amount of money during the autumn months. Customers are willing to pay big money to have their lawns raked and their grass maintained during the months of September thru November. However, many lawn care companies do not know how to properly price their leaf raking jobs. I have seen many lawn care operators dramatically underprice their leaf raking jobs. Too many lawn care companies lose too much money on leaf raking.

This is the time of year when lawn care operators should bank a ton of cash to last them through the winter months.

Do you currently own a lawn care company and you want to know how to make tons of money this season….or….have you not yet started your lawn care company and you want to know how to get customers and price leaf raking jobs?

We have developed a lawn care business guidebook and estimating software that will help you make great money providing lawn care and leaf raking services.

The business package is on sale this month. Click below to order:

How To Buy a Lawn Care Business Vehicle

lawn care business truck van

How to buy a lawn care business van

A lawn care business vehicle needs to fulfill the particular needs of your lawn care business.  A specific truck or van that is perfect for one lawn care business might not fit the needs of your lawn care business.

In my lawn care business, I have used vans, large pickup trucks, and small Ford Rangers.  None of these individual vehicles fulfilled all the needs of my lawn care business.  Vans are good work vehicles because you can lock your weedeaters, leaf blowers, and other equipment inside the van.  Trucks are versatile in their hauling capacity.  Small pickups can be kept looking nice and they offer gas mileage that helps with running around town doing mowing estimates.  All my vehicles have been rigged with tow hitches to facilitate pulling a trailer.

I have been shopping for an additional vehicle this summer.  I need versatility in hauling capacity but this vehicle is not going to haul particularly heavy equipment.  I also need this vehicle to get good gas mileage and be able to keep my gear safely locked away.  Also, since this vehicle will not be a “heavy work” vehicle I need it to look good and offer a comfortable ride.  One more thing, I have a limited amount of money to spend.

In my search, I found a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan.

Although this style of van is normally for passengers, this particular van has been outfitted as a utility vehicle.

lawn care equipment van

Lawn Care Equipment would be protective with an inner cage.

The seats and carpeting have been removed and a protective inner cage has been installed that will help protect any equipment and gear locked safely inside.

It comes with the 3.6L engine that Dodge puts in some of its heavy duty vehicles.  Though 3.6L Dodge engines have some issues reported online, this engine seems to not have the rattling that affects other engines.  In addition to the positives, this van is affordable enough for immediate purchase.

When I started my search for a new vehicle, I never thought I would consider a Dodge Caravan.  I started by looking for a standard work truck or work van like I have purchased in the past.  However, I believe it pays to be flexible and purchase the equipment and vehicles that “fit” into your particular need.  This vehicle will fit nicely and perform the “non-heavy duty” tasks that will be asked of it.

In your lawn care business, how do you make purchasing decisions for your lawn care equipment and vehicles?  Do you simply purchase whatever comes along at the cheapest price or do you have a structured plan in your purchase strategy to help you make purchases that “fit” into your lawn care business?  I see many lawn care business owners purchasing the wrong equipment and the wrong vehicles.  This costs them money in the long run and negatively affects their business.

If you would like to learn how to make better buying decisions in your lawn care business, our Lawn Care Business Strategy Guidebook & Estimating Software package includes a very handy equipment buying guide that will help you buy the RIGHT equipment for your lawn care business.

Make Something Happen TODAY with your Lawn Care Business

Is your lawn care business in the doldrums?

I spoke with a lawn care business owner recently who said he was very depressed that he only has 5 customers going into the summer mowing season. When I asked him what he had done today for his lawn care business he said that he had put out over 1,000 flyers. To clarify, I asked if he put all 1,000 flyers out today. He said “no, last Thursday. I didn’t get any results. What’s the point?”

LOL. Just from this very quick conversation, I can identify 3 things that are going on with this guy. He’s impetuous, impatient, and burnt out.

To begin with, he DID get results. Although he would have like to have more customers, his flyer campaign got him 5 customers. That’s not too bad for a rushed together flyer campaign. However, flyers should never be the only marketing plan implemented by a lawn care company.

Once again, I asked him what he has done TODAY. “Nothing, I’m too tired from the flyers.”

HAHAHA Today is Wednesday and he’s too tired from something he did almost a week ago???

As he said this I thought about a book I read about Sam Walton (the founder of Wal-Mart) years ago. He said that slow steady growth is the key to a successful business. Market smart and market consistantly. Do something every single day to grow your business.

This is important because if you burn yourself out by placing 1,000 flyers you won’t have the energy to continue with a smart, consistant marketing plan. Advertising should be performed on a consistant, daily basis.

Successful marketing takes careful planning, forethought, and persistance.

What have you done TODAY for your Lawn Care Business?

If you are interested in learning the RIGHT way to market your Lawn Care Business, consider purchasing our Lawn Care Business Guidebook and Software program. It is packed with information to help you start and grow a successful lawn care company including things you can do every single day to steadly grow your business.

When rain alters your lawn mowing schedule.

As your mowing schedule fills with regular lawn care customers and mowing contracts, rainy days and other delays will have you scrambling for extra time to get your mowing schedule back on track.

Though it’s a great problem to have, a schedule that is too full will wind up costing you money in the long run.

Why is a packed schedule a bad thing? There are inevitable delays in the lawn care business. Traffic delays, lawn care equipment breakdowns, and job-time misestimates are norm for the lawn care business. With these scheduling stressers the only thing you need is a rain delay to throw you completely off schedule. High quality lawn care customers are difficult to come by. If they feel you are neglecting their lawns (even due to a rain delay) they will drop you for other lawn care companies that are more attentive.

How can you handle rain delays? We have found many methods for effectively planning for rain delays.

The first method is to plan a realistic schedule for your lawn care customers. If you can reasonably mow 15-20 yards per day, don’t schedule 25 lawns per day. It is unrealistic that you can keep up with a 25% overrun of your maximum. It is understandable that you want to get as many customers as possible but one way to keep your schedule manageable is to cull out the less profitable lawns as you replace them with better customers.

Second; keep a mandetory minimum of 1/2 day per week for catch up work. Since Friday is a common day for people wanting their lawns cut, I have always scheduled the second half of Thursday as my make-up day. This is good for two reasons. Early week rain delays can be made up on Thursday. If rain is expected Friday, a quick call to Friday clients will allow me to move them up to Thursday and their lawns will still look good for the weekend.

The last method is to communicate with your customers. Lawn care clients do not want to guess when you will mow their lawns. When you first realize that you are behind schedule, call them on the phone to let them know when you expect to mow. Here is a GREAT tip that will make your customers feel better about the delay. Resist the urge to tell them that you are too busy and will get to their lawns “when you can.” Instead, explain that mowing wet grass damages the turf and it is better for the lawn to wait until it has dried. This simple statement will let them know that you have their best interests at heart and you are truly caring for the grass.

There are many stressors to running a lawn care business. However, if you take a calm, clear, proactive approach, your lawn care business can run as smoothly (and profitably) as possible.

We have been associated with the lawn care industry for 2 decades and we know what it takes to get a business up and running quickly and effectively. We have developed a lawn care business program (with estimating softwre) that will help you with your business.
